Lesley Powell was admitted to practice as a solicitor in March, 1999.
Prior to Lesley’s admission, she was an Associate to a District Court Judge for eight years. After a period of 6 years in private practice in criminal and family law, Lesley worked for six years in the Sydney corporate sector as the consultant and in-house counsel. She advised on compliance, start-ups and commercialisation projects. Lesley has appeared in the Queensland Court of Appeal as a solicitor advocate. She is the sole Principal of Milburn’s Law. Lesley works with three experienced lawyers alongside her and an experienced consultant in the wings.
Lesley Powell prides herself on taking a collegiate, dignified and honest approach to her practice as a lawyer. Her multidiscipline legal background gives her a solid footing in family law. An area that often encompass complexities in corporate, commercial, property, wills and estates and business issues. She can quickly adapt to the complexities that often arise without warning in a matter. Little will escape her forensic eye for detail when she is involved.
Lesley has a pragmatic and common sense approach to any matter.
Like Don, (without the grey hair well hand on heart-not really) Lesley firmly believes that a collaborative approach to family law is far more rewarding and dignified. The alternative is a slow trek or plod through the uncertainty and expense of litigation in an over clogged jurisdiction.
She will proudly inform you if you ask her that she settles many many more matters than she litigates across her practice. She enjoys a repeat happy client base who often bring her lots of lovely bottles of wine and flowers. They know that they get the results they came for which does not have to mean court. This approach is not just in family law but across a range of legal practice areas. Lesley firmly believes in the value and preservation of a client’s loyalty to her.
